One of the popular health care delivery systems in south-west Chennai, K.M. Nursing Home was founded in 1984 by Dr. K. Balasubramanian & Dr. Kannamma. It is carried forward by them along with a team of family physicians who solve your basic needs in terms of overall health and redirect you to a specialist only when warranted.
On 2nd May, 2010 as a part of our Silver Jubilee Celebrations, we launched our new extension K.M. Speciality hospital and its division Bloom , the Centre for Woman & Child Wellness. As a pioneer in providing 360 degree healthcare solutions, we aspire to evolve into an authority in our area of medical services, thus Enabling people to live life to the fullest. The K.M. name has evolved to become synonymous with personalized care and uncompromised attention to details.
This initiative is now steered forward by the managerial team comprising Dr. Ashok Sigamani & Dr. Priya Kalyani.
Dr.K.Balasubramanian and Dr.B.Kannamma got married in 1976 and started a small clinic on 3rd of February 1977, in MGR Nagar,a stone's throw away from their place of residence- K.K.Nagar- of course in Chennai.
Within a year,they established themselves firmly and had a flourishing and roaring practice. By July 1978,Dr.B.Kannamma got a seat in DGO in Stanley Medical College and returned to join her husband in practice after a couple of years, as a Gynaecologist.
They used to see not less than four hundred patients a day. Dr.B.K. set up a small nursing home in the same area just opposite to their place of practice and attended to all obstetric and gynaec patients and started conducting deliveries on her own.
On 17th of March in the year 1986, they shifted their practice lock,stock and barrel to a more spacious, easily approachable place in K.K.Nagar under the banner of KM Nursing Home, in the memory of Kalyanasundaram (father of Dr.KBS) and Muthusamy (father of Dr.BK) It had a spacious Labour theatre and a fully equipped Operation Theatre, besides fully furnished rooms to accommodate in patients. It also had a clinical laboratory besides X-ray and ECG facilities. There were qualified duty medical officers and staff nurses to attend to patients 24/7.
The practice gathered momentum and soon the hospital was not able to meet up with the ever increasing demand. On the 20th of April 2006,KMNH was shifted to a more spacious and modern building just four blocks away. Meanwhile the lone heir apparent of the couple Priya Kalyani completed her MBBS,and got married in the year 2001 to Dr.Ashok Sigamani,her classmate in the medical school. By 2006, Priya Kalyani successfully completed DGO and DNB (OG) and her beloved husband came out as a Paediatrician having successfully completed MD (Paediatrics).
They started their practice together and soon the place was bursting in its seams! The old building of KM Nursing Home was demolished,adjacent plot was acquired and as per the design of the young doctor couple, a very modern,sophisticated, and fully furnished KM Speciality Hospital fondly called as BLOOM was declared open on the 2nd of May,2010. It has deluxe suites,individual rooms,sharing rooms and general ward to cater to the needs of all segments of patients.It has two major operation theaters and a minor OT, two labour suites, a fully automated clinical laboratory, digital X-ray unit, ECG, TMT, EEG, three ultrasonographic units, an in house pharmacy- all the services available round the clock. There are quality medical officers and well qualified staff nurses to attend to patients 24/7.
The consultants belonging to various specialities and super specialities of medicine and surgery are available to attend to in patients at any given time and see outpatients by appointment in a regular manner.Dr.Ashok Sigamani and his wife Dr.Priya kalyani besides taking care of the paediatric and OG departments take care of BLOOM in toto.There are more than forty consultants who are attending to patients on a regular basis and have struck excellent rapport with the patients and the management.
